L.O.V. Devoted to metallics eyeshadow palette ~ best holiday palette yet?

LOV cosmetics devoted to metallics open palette

Metallic eyeshadows are not something I normally associate with my everyday make-up. But after wearing only eyeshadows from the L.O.V. Devoted to metallics eyeshadow palette for a weeks straight and having nobody comment on my “different make-up”, I think I can safely say that this palette is unique – because it’s safe and daring at the same time.

Packaging

The palette itself is quite thick, thicker than you might expect. It’s dressed in some smooth plastic material which feels really pleasant and you can get a good grasp on the palette. Downside – it does get dirty quite quickly. Upside – it’s also very easy to clean up with a wet wipe, unlike some suede or velvet palettes out there that just stain and get difficult to look at.  As an extra bonus, you’ll also find a huge mirror which definitely comes in handy.

Shades

L.O.V. Devoted to metallics colors

In the L.O.V. Devoted to metallics palette, there are 5 shades which comes down to about 3€ per shadow – if you’ll use all of them, this is definitely a great deal. In the lighter shades, you get a white, pink and gold shade which you can pair with a lighter brown and a black.

All of the shades are incredibly pigmented. The far left and far shade shade are a bit less shimmery so it’s easy to create everyday looks with this palette as well.  For the look below, I used the far right shade in the crease, the far left shade to deepen things out in the outer V and the golden shade all over my lid. Simple, quick and stunning!

Besides being super pigmented, the shadows are also very easy to blend – as goes for most L.O.V shadows I’ve tried so far. That means that even creating more complicated looks shouldn’t be that difficult. If you want some extra pop with the lighter shades, I’d suggest using a damp brush so you get that extra metallic feel to the color.

Verdict

This will definitely be my go-to palette in the holiday season – and all other seasons in the year. The colors are absolutely gorgeous, the palette compact and sturdy which also makes it great for traveling. I think, we found another contender for the best eyeshadow palette of 2017.

Catrice Vinyl vs. Velvet limited edition collection preview

Catrice vinyl vs. velvet collection limited edition

Catrice Vinyl vs. Velvet is a beautiful collection, inspired by the new trend of mixing and matching different finishes – vinyl and metalics on the eyes with matte lipsticks or vice versa. There are some gorgeous products in this line and I can’t wait to get my hands on some of these. Check out my favorites below.

Catrice vinyl vs velvet eyeshadow palette

There are two eyeshadow quads(6,29€) in this line. I will need to swatch them to make sure that it’s something I want in my collection, but I’m immediately drawn to the left one – Copper composition. If you’re into earthy tones, you’ll probably prefer the palette on the right, named Grunge In. I will say that the price is quite steep for Catrice but if the eyeshadows are good, I think it’s worth the money, especially since the packaging looks absolutely gorgeous – and I’m a sucker for that!

Catrice vinyl vs. velvet lip duo

There are two lipsticks in the collection – but not just any lipsticks. They are two-sided (5,69 €) – on one side, you’ll find a shiny lipstick and on the other a matte dust. You can use them together for a really opaque matte look or individually. I think it’s a really interesting idea and I’m curious as to how they’ll perform. The shades are Brown Either Or (left) and PaREDox (right). View Post

Lotique Make-up (review & swatches)

Lotique makeup eyeshadow palette and volume mascara

Even though I’m technically on a spending ban until Black Friday sales, I had to break the rule in this instance. Since we don’t get many new brands in Slovenian market, I needed to try some products from Lotique brand. Today, I’m giving you my first impressions on two products – an eyeshadow palette and mascara.

Who is Lotique?

Lotique is a relatively new brand on the Slovenian market, only available in Europark Maribor and their online store. Shopping online in their store is easy, since it’s user friendly, easy to navigate and offers different methods of payment which is still very important in Slovenia. Lotique entered the market with skincare products in 2008 and only recently expanded their offer to make-up. They offer every make-up product you can imagine – for the face (primer, liquid foundation, concealer, blush, bronzer), eyes (individual shadows, palettes, mascaras), lips (lip gloss, lipstick and lip pencil) and a Flash line intended for teenagers, but in my opinion appropriate for everyone.

Eyeshadow palette was the first thing to catch my attention while rummaging through the online store, especially since it looks different from most palettes I own. I’ve been trying it out for the past month and now it’s time to share my opinions with you. The palette costs 12,30€ and holds 12 shades meaning that each shade costs just a few cents over 1 Euro – you’ll be hard pressed to find a least expensive palette in the market.

Packaging

Unfortunately, the packaging is one of the worst things about this palette. Truth be told, I wasn’t expecting much more because of the low price. The entire case is plastic and very light. The lid gives me the impression that it will break of eventually. Hopefully, that won’t happen, but this is definitely not a packaging that would withstand some serious trials.
