Beautyful Bloggers Meetup 2017

Beautiful Bloggers MeetUp Nika Veger

Beautiful Bloggers MeetUp Nika Veger

The day of Beautyful Bloggers MeetUp is one of the days I look forward to the most during the entire year. A day spent with incredible girls, many of whom I call friends, talking, trying out new cosmetics, gossip, good food, great lectures and amazing energy. This year, Beautyful Bloggers MeetUp was organized for the third time in a row and as always, I wouldn’t miss it for the world. Thank you Nika (Beautyfull Blog) for all your efforts and for making it an amazing experience! Also big thanks to Peter Poles who made sure that the conference stayed on schedule and entertained us with his quick thinking and witty comebacks throughout the day.

Today, I want to show you a bit of what was happening throughout the day and talk about it. Tomorrow, I’ll already show you the gifts we brought back home and what I’ll be testing throughout the next couple of months.

Beautyful Bloggers MeetUp ~ morning

Melvita breakfast Beautyful Bloggers MeetUp

We were greeted at the conference by Melvita. They armed us with great and super useful goodie bags and also prepared breakfast for us.

Beautiful Bloggers MeetUp Irena Dezelak

After quick chit-chat and hugs, it was time for the first lecture of the day. Irena Deželak talked to us about our feelings, motives and goals for our blogs, as well as our personal responsibility toward our audience. I’ve hear lectures similar to this quite a few times now but they always get under my skin, so I found it to be the perfect start to the morning.

Beautiful Bloggers MeetUp Tesa Jurjasevic

After a quick chit-chat with Tesa Jurjaševič about what it means to be a blogger and the new Vichy ambassador…

Beautiful Bloggers MeetUp Lena Gregorcic

… we headed into a different hall for the second lecture of the day by Lena Gregorčič. Lena is a SEO expert and this was her second time giving lecture at BBMU conference. I think that she did a wonderful job and my notebook is filled with things I need to check, additional questions and topics that probably need my attention. View Post

My favorite Youtube creators – Slovenian Edition

Youtube slovenske ustvarjalke

About a week ago, I wrote a post about my favorite international YouTubers (*you can read it here*) that was very well received. So today, I’m continuing on this path with a post about my favorite Slovenian YouTube creators. These are girls that I know in real life so it would be a bit unjust (and also extremely difficult for me) to rank them best to last – they are all winners in my book. If I ever decide to venture into the world of YouTube, it will be because they inspire me so much

CHERRY COLORS

Tamara is a relaxed girl from Slovenian coast that always makes me laugh when I scrolling through her videos. She likes testing new things and sharing her opinions, she does unboxings and shows us her purchases and at the same time, she also tackled some fun challenges. She is relaxed and her true self in front of the camera – if you’re looking for someone with the perfect background and some who is always picture-perfect, then Tamara is not the one for you. But if you’re looking for some real honesty and energy, I’d highly recommend her to you.

AJDA SITAR

Ajda is a person who does everything in her life extremely professionally. If you already follow her on any social media, you must know that. That professional attitude can also be felt in her YouTube channel which only holds a handful of videos, but every single one of them is worth your time. We can watch Ajda travel right now, but I’m hoping for some more beauty videos soon.

NINA BEAUTYNA

Nina is a MUA in real life so it’s no surprise that you’ll find a bunch of really good tricks and tips for perfect make-up in her videos. I love that she uses different brands of all prices ranges because that’s something I try to achieve on my blog. I really love watching Nina’s videos in the evening because of her soothing voice – a perfect ending to the day. If I ever need a MUA to do my make-up, Nina is definitely the first person I’ll turn to!

GEJBA PAROKEETS

I sure can’t miss putting Gabi on this list. She used to post quite seldom, but recently she’s been really active so I’m happy to recommend her channel. I like that she covers different topics that may not be very conventional (plaque removal or SPF reviews). Her videos are well planned meaning you’ll get a ton of information in a short period of time. Since I don’t have the time to spend hours in front of my computer, I find her way of doing videos great.

KATJA SPANKA

Katja is the one that posts most frequently on her YouTube channel from all beauties mentioned above. You’ll find different tutorials on her channel, ranging from those for beginners to some more complex. Her videos are done without a voiceover which might trouble you a bit if you’re new to make-up but I don’t see it as a problem. Don’t forget to check out the challenges she does with her boyfriend!

Until next time, stay beautiful!

SummerMBeauty 2017

SummerMBeauty

Nabral se nas je kar čeden šopek in preseneča me, da naslednji dan ni deževalo.

Dogodek so organizirale Ajda (blog Just Ajda), Sindi (blog Sindiana Jones) in Nina (Nina Novak blog). Dan so nam zapolnile s predavanji in predstavitvami znamk, delavnico ličenja Nee Make-up Milano in še marsičem, kar nam je polepšalo že tako čudovit sončen dan.

SummerMBeauty

Poleg predavanj smo blogerke obiskale tudi lepotno tržnico z znamkami Yanumi, Ziaja, Avon, Biobaza, Perfect Body Salon in Keune.

SummerMBeauty

Še več trenutkov si lahko pogledaš v spodnji galeriji. Hvala sponzorjem, ki so nas letos lepo pogostili:

Elite MB Catering,Barcaffe Black&Easy,Sladolednica BUM, La Popsi, Pullus, Fructal, Everly, Rosies Store, Essence, Lush, Ličila.si, Glina.si, Malinca, Yanumi, Karbonoir, Ziaja, Avon, Soraya, Annemarie Börlind, Paese, Ikona, Perfect Body MB, Keune, Calvin Klein, Nee Make Up Milano, Galerija Spa
Vetrinjski Dvor ter Luft. Do naslednjič, ostani čudovita!

Beauty brands I’m boycotting

I try not to be overly judgmental when it comes to make-up. I know many of you are very conscious and only buy white-list products, vegan products, those that are not tested on animals an so forth. When I’m choosing between two almost identical products, I’ll take such factors into consideration as well, but sometimes when I really want something I’ll buy it regardless. I do however have a whole list of brands that I’ll never, never buy anthying from (again) for a bunch of different reasons, most of them being that they are completely in conflict with my values.

On the very top of the list you’ll find JEFFREE STAR COSMETICS. I have so many problems with this brand that I don’t even know where to start, but let’s try to name a few. I won’t buy their products because of the YouTube Guru and brand owner, Jeffree. I refuse to buy products from a racist who finds it appropriate to use the N word and threatens to spill acid over people. I won’t give a single cent of my money to a person who will overflow the market with gimmicky products (black highlighter?) just to get more money from his fans. I won’t buy anything from a person who reacts to criticism by sending his army of loyal fans to attack the critic. And don’t even get me started on all the stories about horrible customer service of the company. WILL NOT BUY. BYE.

Next, let’s talk about KYLIE COSMETICS. I despise the Kardashian trend as it is, but what I despise even more is that one of them can put their name on a product they probably didn’t even have much to do with before it launched. Just by doing this the price tag increases incredibly and sells out in matter of minutes. Like, c’mon, really? And excluding a few extra ingredients in the Colourpop liquid lipsticks (6$), the formula of Kylie’s Liquid Lipsticks (17$) is identical – because both are produced by Spatz Labs. Customers have received lipsticks with destroyed applicators, lipsticks that were leaking and even empty boxes. And Kylie is laughing all the way to the bank. WILL NOT BUY. BYE.

LIMECRIME is not that popular in Slovenia but nevertheless I see young women lusting over their liquid lipsticks like they’re the best thing on Earth. Well, it just so happens that Limecrime has a very shady history. We can talk about how they repackaged wholesale products into their tubes and sold them forward. We can talk about when they had a breach of security in their internet payment protocol (which resulted in people’s credit cards being charged 1000’s of dollars) and thought Instagram was the best way to let their customers know about this. Or, we can discuss the time when their founder dressed up like Hitler for Halloween. And that’s just the tip of the iceberg. WILL NOT BUY. BYE.

A brand that’s all the rage right now all over YouTube and in beauty community is MORPHE. I have nothing against brand advertising with both ATL and BTL methods as long as the advertiser is being open and honest about it. But you see so  many Youtubers rave about Morphe palettes and then never once mention them in their Favorites videos.  I had the chance to swatch them and I’d say that the palettes are nothing  special. But the thing that I really dislike is that the brand is really just doing private labeling – the use the same formulas being sold by other (cheaper!) brands, repackage them, change the names and sell them with profit. So basically anyone could do that. WILL NOT BUY. BYE.

Last but not least I want to say a few words about a brand that I actually own quite a few products from, MAKE-UP REVOLUTION. I’ve written quite a few blog posts about their products already but now I can say that I won’t be buying their products anymore because they are nothing short of thieves, even if they’re »just« stealing intellectual property. They see a new product by a high-end brand come out, take it, slightly change the name (like when they copied Kat Von D’s Shade&Light Eye Contour Palette and named it Ultra Eye Contour Shade&Light), copy everything else and sell it as »their« own product. If you’re curious about their practice, just Google it – they’ve ripped off Charlotte Tilbury, Laura Mercier, Smashbox, Stila, Tarte, Hourglass, Real Techniques, Soap and Glory, Ben Nye and many others. And to top it all off, they are proud and call themselves »kings of dupes«. Well, they can keep their dupes. WILL NOT BUY. BYE.

Ta znamka je MAKE-UP REVOLUTION. Ko na trg pride popularen izdelek dražje in popularne blagovne znamke, ga vzamejo, malo spremenijo ime (kopiji Kat Von D palete Shade&Light Eye Contour Palette so nadeli kar ime Ultra Eye Contour Shade&Light), skopirajo vse podobnosti in izdelek prodajo kot lasten izum. No, svoje ponaredke lahko obdržijo. NE BOM (VEČ) KUPILA. ČAO!

These are just a couple of brands that I have a very negative opinion on and wanted to share it with you. Do you have any brand in mind that you’d never buy from? Let me know in the comments. Until next time, stay beautiful!

Zakaj? Povej mi v komentarjih, do naslednjič pa ostani čudovita!

My favorite Slovenian bloggers ***** Moje najljubše slovenske blogerke

When thinking about the topic of my favorite Slovenian beauty bloggers, I mostly focused on the situation when I’m asked a question about a specific beauty product I have no experience with. In such cases, I often rely on a handful of other beauty blogs that I know to be trustworthy and are written by girls that I know and respect in real life. These are also the beauty blogs that I always try to read when I find the time. Naturally, there are other bloggers out there that are just as great, but I simply don’t remember to read their blogs as often.

If you’re interested about the things that I dislike about some beauty blogs, you can also read about that at the very end of this post. I think that this kind of personal preference grows stronger with age – there are things that I don’t tolerate well so I simply choose to stay away from them. But in the end we are all different and like different things which is OK  – I’m sure there are things that bother other people about my blog as well and that’s just fine as well.

Parokeets

I sometimes call the creators, Gabi and Maja,  parrots in my head. If I remember correctly, that is one of the hidden meanings in the name of their *blog*. Parokeets was one of the first Slovenian beauty blogs ever and the mileage shows in the quality of the content, photography and the general view of beauty related topics. I also feel close to this blog because both Gabi and Maja are close to my age and have little children.

The Beauty of Nail Polish

A young mother herself, Tara from Beauty of Nail Polish blog (which you can check out *here*) is quite similar to me in terms of thinking – we are both stubborn and don’t take much nonsense from anyone. She is always there to lend a kind word, some support or to simply laugh at my bad jokes and my irrational fits of anger. Her blog is mainly dedicated to nail related topics but lately, it’s becoming enriched with other beauty content as well. I suggest you pay close attention to the wonderful photos.

Tara z bloga Beauty of Nail polish – obišči ga *tu* – mi je precej podobna, saj sva obe precej trmasti, “no nonsense” mladi mamici.

Ajdas Blog

Ajda from Ajdas *blog* is a really beauty, a trendsetter and one of those bloggers who I’d like to see post every single day. Her blog fills me with ideas, refreshes my aesthetic batteries and keeps me in the loop about current trends. I love that she takes every post on with dead seriousness. I also like Ajda as a person because she is very straightforward and has wonderful eye for detail. Her blog is a mini mundus of contents like beauty, fashion, travel, home decor and many other topics.

Ajda, ki ustvarja *tu*, je prava lepotica, turbo trendsetterka in ena tistih, od katerih si vedno želim še kakšno objavo več. Njen blog me napolni z idejami, mi osveži estetske čute in mi pove, kaj je trenutno “in”.

Mad About Red

On her *blog*, Ana doesn’t just write about red lipsticks as one could imagine from the name. Besides her spot-on reviews, I go to her blog for little tricks and tips I incorporate into my everyday life. Ana is one of the bloggers that knows what she’s talking about – she is a licensed aesthetician and my first go-to source of information when I’m trying to find out more about a certain skincare product. Besides all that, I also religiously follow her Insta Stories which are always a source of fun.

Cherry Colors

Tamara is an incredibly vibrant and positive person that always puts me in a good mood. Her *blog* is very much focused on Korean beauty which puts a strain on my wallet but I enjoy her reviews and put complete trust in them. Tamara is a funky mom who often surprises me with new hair color or other change in style and always makes me laugh with her spontaneous Insta Stories.

Funky mama me na Instagramu redno preseneča s stilskimi preobrazbami in nasmeji s svojimi dnevnimi dogodivščinami.

Lippie Hippie

Sometimes, I just want to scream with frustration because Aida doesn’t *post* nearly as much as I’d want her to. For the time being, I’m willing to forgive her because she’s been traveling like crazy (and sometimes brings back some goodies for me from her travels as well). I often say that we could share our make-up collection since our taste in products is very similar. Word of advice: don’t visit her Instagram hungry since it’s always full of yummy looking food photos.

Beautyfull Blog

Nika from Beautyfull *blog* keeps the Slovenian beauty bloggers in check with reality. As the organizer of the Beautyfull Bloggers Meetup, she connects, educates, motivates and pushes Slovenian bloggers outside our comfort zones and I’m very grateful to her for that. Besides her blog (and her lovely family), she is always involved in a thousand different projects but somehow makes it seem like a piece of cake.

Beauty Of a Lemon

Name of this *blog* might seem a bit unusual until you’ve met Simona in real life. Soft and gentle, with big gentle eyes and ridiculously good skin, you’d never expect her quirky character and witty humor. I know that her reviews are trustworthy and count on them for good photos and credible information. You absolutely need to read her empties posts and her Lush hauls!

Na prvi pogled mila in nežna, z zasanjanimi očmi in nesramno lepo kožo, v sebi skriva živahen karakter in precej našpičenega humorja. Nujno branje so njene objave o izpraznjenih izdelkih in njene ocene Lush dobrot.

I also wanted to share what I dislike about certain blogs. I am most bothered by bad grammar. If I can find ten mistakes in the first paragraph, I won’t continue reading. I am also not attracted to blogs where practically every post is sponsored or based on PR products. I understand that beauty bloggers must make a living, but the sheer amount of promoted products that have nothing to do with beauty is really off-putting. The same goes for blogs that don’t base their audience on quality content but on almost daily giveaways. Last but not least, I really don’t read any blogs where creators don’t put their imagination and knowledge to work when creating content but rather just copy the information from PR materials that we all get in our mailboxes.

Naturally, this is my personal opinion and I’m sure you don’t agree with everything I’ve written so far. As I already mentioned, we are all different and attracted to different things. My blog is far from perfect and I’m sure I do things that bother others. In the end, everyone decides for themselves if they will read my blog and take my thoughts and opinions into considerations. Until next time, stay beautiful!

Do naslednjič, ostani čudovita.
