New Bits And Bobs for June 2016

I must admit that it didn’t exactly feel like I was shopping that much or received that many goodies as in the previous months. But when I hauled everything to the seaside and started taking photos, I realized that I might have a lot going on here. I already spoke briefly about some new products you’ll see below, but generally, this is the overview of everything I bought or received this month.

Also, be prepared for a long one next month as well – June is my b-day month and I always go a little overboard when ordering new things, but most of them are yet to arrive 🙂

Starting off with face, body and hair, I bought the Biobaza natural deodorant (Rosewood and Geranium). I’m only starting to discover this brand so I’m excited to try it out, especially with the bad luck I’ve been having with deodorants lately.

I received the Afrodita Body Scrub and Body Mousse as a b-day gift from a friend. I’ve had quite a bad experience with a certain Afrodita product in the past weeks, but hopefully we’ll get along better with these two.

I bought the Aussie Festival Fresh dry shampoo here in Croatia while on vacation. I haven’t seen this particular one yet in Slovenia but I’ve tried Aussie dry shampoo before and enjoyed it. View Post

Sun protection – beauty bloggers collaboration

Dear ladies,

first let me welcome you to the whole new look of my blog. I’m still working on improving some things, I have some editing to do and a whole lot of corrections, but I still want to post in the meantime, so please bear with me 🙂 I hope you like it, since I have been wanting a new look for a long time and this one really caught my eye.

Secondly, and possibly even more important, I want to again address the issue of safety in the sun. I already wrote a long post about it, which you should go and read since it guides you through understanding SPF in general (*click* to read that post).

I won’t repeat the dangers of exposing your skin to the sun in exaggerated amounts – you do need some sun exposure to get the all important vitamin D, but keep in mind that you need to be careful in the way you achieve that.

Saying that, I’m not the palest person in the world. I love to be out and about meaning that I do catch some sun rays. But I always, always wear SPF and I don’t bake in the sun deliberately – my tan comes from long walks with baby M and from the time I spend in the sea. But if you are the kind of person who values their pale skin and makes sure to keep it pearl white in all seasons – my hat goes out to you! There is no doubt that your skin will look much better than mine in twenty years’ time.

To make sure that you get all possible information about sun safety, our little group of Slovenian bloggers did a little collaboration with different posts about sun and sun screen. Make sure to check the link below where you can find posts by other great Slovenian beauty bloggers!

Mirati Face Wash review

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again – having a small child means that anything that promises you’ll become more refreshed, invigorated, have more energy or anything similar is a sure bestseller.

Normally, I love soft, creamy shower gels but for the last three months (baby M is exactly 3 months today) I’ve only used ones that give me a boost of freshness in the morning and in the evening.

All of the above are also the reasons that Mirati Face Wash won me over in an instant. It combines Aloe Vera with lemon essential oils, making it both kind to your skin and refreshing at the same time.

The product itself is very simple to use – I take a small amount as in the photo above, apply it to damp face and wash it off. It creates more of a mess than if I was using a wet cloth, but I love the feeling of my skin after giving it a thorough wash – it is soft and feels tighter at the same time (the expression “squeaky clean” comes to mind).

All Mirati products are packaged in Eco friendly tubes that can be squeezed tightly together when you run out of product. Added bonus: products are not tested on animals. I am giving the brand a big thumbs up for creating a great new line of products, but I would love it even more if the products were made in Slovenia (since they are currently produced in India).

If your wallet can handle it – the face wash sells for 18,18 €, I would recommend this product to anyone that likes a quick and gentle wash. You can check out other Mirati products such as day cream, night cream and body wash here (*click*) and make sure to follow their Facebook page (*click*) since they often do spectacular promotional offers – right now, they are doing a 1+2 offer, meaning you get two products for free when you order one.

Until next time, stay beautiful!

My monthly make-up basket – July 2016

Originally, I was planning on doing two make-up baskets per month, but let’s face it, even I don’t have that much make-up to constantly swap items, so I am afraid that it would become rather boring. Instead, I’ll be doing this once a month and doing some additional reviews on the Monday I now have free to post whatever I like 🙂

So here are some of the products that I’ll be using and hopefully loving for the next few weeks.

Starting with the face, I’ll still be using the L’Oreal Infallible primer, but I actually bought the foundation to go along with it – the L’Oreal Infallible 24h-matte (in shade Sand). I hear that the combination works well together so I’m excited to give it a go. The shade of foundation is perhaps a tad too dark at the moment, but as I’m typing this from my seaside vacation, I’m sure that will probably change in a couple of days or so.

I’m going to give another go with the Freedom Pro Conceal and Correct palette. While the shade selection in this palette is really great, I find that the concealers are quite hard to blend and tend to crease on me. Perhaps a good primer will make a difference.

I’ll also be reaching for my Essence lights of the orient bronzer that has a hint of highlight in the middle. I fear this will be a bit too orange for me but we’ll see. To be on the safe side, I also brought my beloved Sleek palette (Fair) that includes a nice bronzer, a lovely coral blush and a decent highlighter.

I’ll also be trying out some new Ardeco goodies – a strobing fluid and contouring powders (lighter 12 – vanilla chocolate and darker 21 – dark chocolate). View Post

My top 10 nail polishes for the summer

I love changing the color of my nails as often as I find the time (which is not that often now with the baby M around, but still often enough). Going through my collection packing up for vacation, I found myself searching for very specific polishes and instantly decided to share my pick with you.

Starting off with the lightest shades, we’ve got Ciate Snow Virgin, Delia Coral (n. 159) and Essie Sittin’ Pretty. I would say that Ciate and Delia work well with two coats, but I’m not a big fan of the Essie formula in this particular shade. Still, it’s a lovely violet color and I am willing to make an effort.

Next are the pinks and the orange shades – Avon Sheer Citrus, L’Oreal Nymphea, L’Oreal Cherie Macaron and Avon Flaming Orange. The L’Oreal polishes are spectacular – two coats do the job easily and the colors are so rich and vibrant! I didn’t think I’ll like the Avon Sheer Citrus very much but in fact it’s not as sheer as it appears in the bottle. I am hard pressed to find such neutral shades to fit my skin tone so I am a big fan of this particular polish. Avon Flaming Orange is from last year’s collection of Avon Glow, which has a ton of new releases this year.

Last but not least there are the cooler shades – Ciate Apples and Custard, Zoya Lilian and a new edition to my nail polish family, a polish from Bell Hypoalergenic (n. 45). The latter reminds me of my favorite Youtuber so I just had to pick it up, Ciate is perfect for a wash of color and Lilian is a staple on days when I can’t be bothered too much since one coat usually does the job.

What is your favorite nail polish for the summer days? Let me know!

Until next time, stay beautiful!
