I am such a sucker for foreign brands that I rarely think about reaching for something domestic, which is unfortunate, really, since I am only now learning how many wonderful brands are being made right here in my backyard.
Subrina is one of the brands that’s really been neglected on my part and I got a chance to try two of the products from the Vitamins & Strength line that I got at the Beauty Blogger Meetup. They are sold at the Click2Chic online store. The shampoo costs for 2,34 300 ml and the conditioner 2,49 € for 250 ml.
Both shampoo and conditioner are without parabens, mineral oil and formaldehyde releases meaning that they don’t contain all sorts of things that are not really beneficial for your hair or your scalp.
I really, really like the way that the combo of both products makes my hair feel – it’s nice and silky, very light but also feels nourished. I didn’t notice any significant changes as far as the outward appearance goes – my hair pretty much looked the same as it always does.
One thing I would have liked different is the smell. Although I put a lovely smelling oil in my hair when it’s still damp, I could still feel the overpowering smell of perfume in the conditioner through it and I wasn’t impressed. But, if that’s your thing, you will love this Subrina line, because the smell really lingers for a long time.
You know the myth about not ever applying oils to oily hair and oily skin? I personally am well acquainted with it and I deprived my skin and scalp of good oils for years and years. Well, the tables have turned and now I’m a deep believer in providing that extra bit of nurture.
I bought the Afrodita Jojoba oil shower gel a couple of weeks back and guess what – it was my first ever Afrodita shower gel. Like – the first one to enter my bathroom. I went on using it for a couple of days and then I noticed that the amount in the bottle was vanishing at a quicker pace then expected.
I confronted my significant half and he admitted that this was one of the best shower gels he ever tried. Personally, I agree. I can hardly believe that a normal shower gel with added shea butter can really leave my skin so soft and supple while at the same time not oily at all. I am a huge fan and will definitely repurchase it. You can get yours here for only 2,10 €, but it is also available in all large supermarkets and drugstores.
The second product I wish to talk about is the Afrodita Argan Oil which is quite new on the market (other product recently released is the Afrodita 10 in 1 serum that I also need to get my hands on). It is also available here for 4,00 €.
This oil promises to provide you with 6 different things: healthy ends, deep impact repair, restored shine, deep hydration, intense nutrition and protection. I must say that I didn’t really like the way my hair looked or behaved when I applied this to slightly damp hair since I feel that it weighed them down a little bit. In that sense, I would favor other oils (e.g. Keraste or Moroccan Oil) over it. On the other hand, when used on dry hair it really seemed to seal the ends and give my hair a bit of shine, which consequently made my blow-dry seem a lot more put together and professional.
I would definitely recommend both of these products and I look forward to seeing what else Afrodita has in store for us!
Until next time (yes, tomorrow, you’re right!), stay beautiful!
Since the 1st Beauty Bloggers meetup, I have banned myself from shopping completely. I have so many wonderful products at home, so many new brands to explore and so many posts to write that I simply don’t need any more beauty products in my life right now.
Consequently, I decided to attempt (to the best of my abilities) a month with a post each single day, which I named Blogvember. Hopefully, I will be able to keep my word and 30 separate posts, although it will be no walk in the park since November is usually the busiest moth of the year at work and I will also be flying somewhere warm to soak my feet in the middle of the ocean during the month. But I believe in myself and hopefully, you will enjoy the posts will bring to you!
One of the brands that I had almost no experience with before the conference is Aussie. I was quite excited to see their products in the gift bags since I have heard many good things about it from other beauty bloggers.
At the conference, I got the Aussie Repair Miracle Shampoo (300 ml, about 5,60 € at Boots) and the Repair Miracle Conditioner (250 ml, also about 5,60 € at Boots). On one of my trips, I also picked up the Aussie Miracle Dry Shampoo (Colour Mate, about 6,6€ at Boots). View Post
After some months, I finally used up most of the products from my previous Look Fantastic boxes and decided it was time to see what they have up their sleeve this time.
Look Fantastic Beauty Box is a subscription service box (in which case you save a bit of money), but it can also be bought individually for 20,85 €. Generally, one or two out of 5 products in the box already bring the worth to the 21 € mark, but that doesn’t really mean anything if you don’t like the products, now does it? This is what I found inside the August box.
I must say that I really like the pick, since I haven’t used any of these brands except for Rimmel before. I think that this is a real advantage of subscription boxes as well – being able to use samples or deluxe samples (and sometimes even full size products) of brands I would otherwise probably never reach for or even think about, really.
I admit that I’ve already tried both of these products. The left one is Alterna Caviar CC cream – 10 in 1 complete correction leave-in hair conditioner (full size available herefor 34,68 €) and the right one is the Beauty Works 10 in 1 Miracle spray (full size available here for 16,66 €), which is also a leave-in conditioner. One thing I have definitely noticed after using either one of these products is that my hair is a bit heavier and shiny – I feel like I’ve just come out of my hair salon. Personally, I’m leaning against the Alterna CC cream, since the smell is not as potent as with Beauty Works spray and I can measure out the product I need more exactly out of the squeeze tube.
I must admit that I’ve never been too curious about the Eve Lombrand, particularly because I’ve seen the prices before and well, let’s just say that they’re a bit out of my range. So I am very excited about this 30 ml sample and the included muslin cloth to see what the hype is about.
The full size is available herefor a whooping 76,45 €.
I am really looking forward to trying out different ways of using the Bellapierreshimmer powder in Snowflake. View Post
I tried to be reasonable with my shopping in the past month, since I’ve got quite some business and personal trips coming up in the near future and I intend to purchase some products that are not easily available to me in Slovenia (or not at all). That being said, I still slipped on some occasions and I also received some Freedom Make-Up from Licila.si to try out, but I will review those in a separate post.
First off, I took advantage of a nice Yves Rocher offer where one could choose three products for 12,50 € (the promotion is still valid).
Since I’ve never tried Yves Rocher products before, this seemed like a nice opportunity. I bought the Replumping serum foundation, Blackberries sparkling body powder and Hair Repair Oil. The company also sent me some extra samples to try out and a shopping bag which comes in handy for my everyday grocery purchases.
I haven’t tried all of the products yet, but can I just point out how beautiful this packaging from the sparkling body powder is? I absolutely love the little puff and the smell of it as well – it really does smell like blackberries! View Post
