Spring giveaway!

My lovely, beautiful readers, I’m so happy I’m able to do another giveaway for you. We’re quickly approaching 100 Facebook subscribers (reason for another giveaway?) and I’m so happy that I’m able to reach out to so many of you. I know that it may not seem like much, but I really love my blog and every one of you 🙂

DISCLAIMER:

This time I prepared two rewards. The giveaway is open to my European readers only (so not only EU, all of Europe). You must be 18 to enter or have consent from your parent or legal guardian. The giveaway will end on 28th of March and the winners will be announced on my Facebook profile and through Rafflecopter here on the blog. The winners must send me a message to lowmaintenancebeautyblog[at]gmail.com with their name and address in 5 days (no later than on 4th of April by midnight), otherwise another winner will be chosen. The entire giveaway will be run through the Rafflecopter. Each participant can earn one or more entries to the giveaway. All the items were purchased by me personally.

If any of the options won’t work properly, I’ll do everything in my power to fix them by 23:59 on 9th of March 2015. Otherwise, the option will be removed from the Rafflecopter.

The first prize consists of two products I think are necessary for spring time – something to keep your hair in place because of all the wind and the lovely pastel colors for your nails. Pastels are all the rage this year and I couldn’t pass this package up. And I don’t think I have to talk too much about the Tangle Teezer – I own two (one for home and one exactly like the one below for my purse) and I love them.

The second prize will bring color to your cheeks. I chose the lovely Ultra Blush Palette in hot spice by Makeup Revolution London which has some of the prettiest shimmer and matte blushes, baked blusher and baked highlight powder – all in one. It’s heavenly. And of course, no palette is any good if we cannot apply the blush properly and really blend it out. So the second prize pack also includes the Real Techniques blush brush, which I also own and absolutely adore.

You have several options how to enter the giveaway – all listed below in the Rafflecopter. You can choose one option of entry, or several – it’s up to you. I’ll keep my fingers crossed for every one of you!

IMPORTANT: Since Rafflecopter doesn’t want to write out my brand new and fancy Instagram name properly – here it is: @low_maintenance_beauty

The CHRISTMAS Tag

I really, really, really love Christmas and the whole month of December in general. Things have been quite busy in the last two weeks but I think that I will really be able to start enjoying this wonderful time of the year from this week on.

I recently watched this tag video on Youtube and it was super funny, so I thought I’d give it a go. Have you done any Christmas related tags or do you have any suggestions for other tags you’d like me to do? Comment below!

1. What is your favourite holiday movie?

Probably Home alone. I was about the same age as Macaulay Culkin when the movie came out and I had a huge crush on him. I have seen the movie countless times and can probably quote the whole thing by heart. But I always, always only watch it during the Christmas season.

2. What are your favourite Christmas colours?

Gold and dark green. My whole house basically looks like a very festive forest around this time of the year.

3. Do you like to stay in your PJ’s or dress up for Christmas?

I never like to stay in my PJ’s so the same goes for Christmas. We have a huge Christmas dinner on 24th each year with my family and we all dress up for the occasion.

4. Favorite Christmas song?

From the carols, definitely Deck the halls – I sing this all year long. From pop hits, probably Santa baby by Madonna.

5. Do you open your presents Christmas Eve or Christmas morning?

Most of the presents I open together with my family on Christmas Eve, but my hubby and I usually give each other our presents on Christmas morning. Well, to be honest, we never get up very early on Christmas, so it would be fairer to say we open the presents on Christmas noon.

6. Have you ever built a gingerbread house?

Nope. But apparently you can now get them already pre-packaged and just put them together like Lego. That I could probably manage.

7. What do you like to do on Christmas holiday?

I don’t really have any holiday to speak of, but on the days off, I will probably have friends over for dinners or go to city center to take in some Christmas spirit.

8. Any Christmas wishes?

Health – for me and my family. Enough prosperity to enable us with a normal life. Stabilisation of economy and improvement in social structures in Slovenia – I really wish that the country would start existing for the people, not because of them.

9. Favourite Christmas smell?

Anything with cinnamon or vanilla.

10. Favourite Christmas meal or treat?

My grandfather makes a mean potica with poppy seeds. But as far as things go that you can buy in stores, I have developed an obsession with Milka Christmas almonds – I only found them in Müller this year and bought 5 packs to make sure I won’t run out of them before December ends 🙂

11. Is your Christmas tree real or fake?

Fake. I don’t care much for real trees – it’s not very kind to the environement and apparently also leaves a huge mess. I would love to get a more modern tree sometime in the future. I saw one I liked in Merkur this year and I had real hard time deciding that I don’t need it that bad.

12. Are you a pro-present wrapper, or do you fail miserably?

I am quite good at wrapping small things but really, really bad at wrapping larger presents (as the giveaway winners are soon to find out).

13. Have you ever had a White Christmas?

Luckily, we almost always have some snow in Slovenia during the winter holidays, but considering it’s 15 degrees Celsius outside today, I am not very optimistic.

And that’s it! Hope you guys enjoyed finding out something new about me 🙂

Until next time, stay beautiful, stay awesome.

Lifestyle favorites

It’s been a really hard week last week and has not improved a great deal by now. A lot of my co-workers and my family got ill and I’ve had to sort out a lot of additional things, while at the same time running around my clients and generally being busy as I always am.

As I already mentioned, November is my least favorite month of the entire year and it is really hard to be excited about anything when being down. But there are some things in my life that brought smile to my face in the previous month and I would like to share them with you.

I know I’ve talked about these already and they are also included in my giveaway. But it gives me real comfort to come home and light a candle that brings a touch of warmth to your life. I generally like all of the Christmas collection and I will be burning it well into January.

I also got this last week… a bit of bragging never hurt anyone, right? I must admit it feels good that it’s finally over.

Below are some of the presents I bought for “my” children in the Santa for a day project. I am a firm believer in giving back since I count myself very lucky to have all the things I need in my life. If you missed your opportunity to participate this year, follow them on FB and make sure you sign up next year.

What is this, you ask? Why, it’s a PILE of felt 🙂

I always like to do some DIY presents during the Christmas season for the people who appreciate them. I am looking forward to actually finding the time to do them, but for now, just looking at these wonderful colors puts a smile on my face.

ext, my all time favorite scent, which I supersized on this month. I know, you can’t see it clearly – it’s Chloe by Chloe. Very original, I know, but to me, this smells of warm kisses, fuzzy socks, orchids and the feeling of a roasted chestnut bag in your hands.

Meet my favorite purse. I’ve had this for several years but it’s quite… different, so I usually only wear it in the winter when I can easily match it with a black, grey or beige coat. Each year, I splurge on one bag from Marjeta Grošelj (or I receive it as a gift, depends) and I’ve never regretted a single € spent. I think that while her bags are unusual, they are timeless and worth the splurge.

Last but not least, the one thing that made me smile is the Rafflecopter counter climbing up and up and up. I’m soo excited to announce the winners on Thursday! Make sure to enter if you haven’t yet!

Until next time, stay beautiful, stay awesome.

Your ideas and suggestions – a recap

First of all, thanks to each and everyone of you for entering my giveaway and for all the lovely messages and ideas. I love giving gifts even more than receiving them, so hopefully we’ll be able to do many more giveaways in the future.

Anyway, when reading your comments, I realized I had to somehow organize everything by category, otherwise I will randomly forget what it is you want to read about. So without further ado, here are your ideas and my thoughts about them.

Review of high-end make-up (Marc Jacobs, Bobby Brown, Clinique, Benefit, …)

Many of you suggested these brands or specific products from these brands as something you’d like to read about. The thing is, I’m not too sure about most of these. I would never go and make an online purchase of, for example, Marc Jacobs Genius Gel Super-Charged Foundation ($48) without being able to test it out first. Since most of these brands are not available in Slovenia, these kind of reviews are less likely to happen and they would really not be that beneficial to most of you. I will most likely stick to reviews of products that are either available on Slovenian market or that are easily enough shipped over here from EU stores and are not crazily expensive. Jamberry nails for instance sound like fun, but I can’t find any EU shipping so again, unlikely to happen.

Drugstore make-up brands (Essence, Catrice, Barry M, …)

I feel there are so many reviews of these brands out there already. I think that Essence and Catrice just held a blogging event in Slovenia and stocked-up the invited bloggers with their products. So I’m not really sure I’ll be going out and buying the same collections just to do reviews on. But if I buy a product and have a strong (positive or negative) opinion on it, you will be the first to know 🙂 I do think that this category is good for finding inexpensive dupes for high-end products, which was also one of the requests – this I think I will try to do as often as possible. A penny saved is a penny earned, or however that saying goes. View Post

40 beauty questions TAG

Since my camera is still not cooperating and I’m unable to take the photos of my second online shopping haul results (and everything else I bought since then as well), I decided this would be a good opportunity to go through a new beauty tag that recently caught my eye. It’s going to be a long, long post so by the time you are done with this, my camera will be working for sure. So here we go!

How many times do you wash your face daily?

– Normally 3 times – in the morning, when I get home from work and take my make-up off and in the evening.

What skin type do you have?

– A mixture of dry and oily – oily cheeks and chin, dry nose and forehead.

What is your current facial wash?

– Neutrogena Natural Purifying Pore Scrub. Read about that one in my July favorites

Do you exfoliate?

– I think I do? Everyday?

Update: In the last month or so I learned that if it sounds too simple, it probably is. So I found an article about the difference between scrubs and exfoliators. And no, I don’t exfoliate. I learn something new every day…

What brand do you use?

– I don’t.

What moisturizer do you use?

– The Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing Gel, which is awesome.

Do you have freckles?

– Nope.

Do you use eye cream?

– I’m planning on buying myself a really good eye cream. I’ve tried some of the drugstore “dupes” but I didn’t see any dramatic difference.

Do you or did you have acne prone skin?

– I still get spots on my chin, but rarely anywhere else. I’ve never had severe acne though. View Post
