30 Beauty Questions Tag

So this is it – the “before” state of my beauty life as I embark on this mad make-up induced path I envision in my head. As I am still ill, cozy on the couch with a nice mug of hot tea (and a cookie, obviously), I decided to just dig in and see what we come up with. Now, let’s get started!

1. Do you remember your first make-up item?

Sure! It was a glittery light-blue eyeshadow. Similar to a Color Tattoo. Quite nice, but I lost it after a couple of days of carrying it around everywhere. Then I never really bothered to ask for something else. Because I was a dancer my whole teenage period, I owned more make-up than most kids those days. Maybe some experience with it scared me off the whole idea of make up and I just can’t remember it? Must ask my mum about it.

2. Describe you perfect mascara. Have you found one that fits your specifications?

Black. And not clumpy. What I learned in the past month is that my eyelashes are really long, so I need to add volume and curl them more than I need to lengthen them. Now I need to find the perfect mascara to help me do that.

3. What kind of coverage do you prefer from foundation?

I don’t even understand this questions? A foundation is supposed to cover, right? Why would you use it otherwise?

4. Favorite high end brand?

Chanel. I did/do actually own quite a lot of Chanel by some curious twist of fate. Long story.

5. What cosmetic brand have you always wanted to try but still haven’t?

Well, I would be lying if I said that I’ve always wanted to try the following, but I am actually really looking forward to buying them on the upcoming shopping haul overseas: Benefit, Real Techniques, Josie Maran, Urban Decay, Too Faced, NYX, Covergirl etc. Soooo many of them. I’m bringing an extra suitcase.

6. Favorite drugstore brand?

Probably L’Oreal. Or Maybeline. I really go for the product, not the brand. When I find one I like I just stick to it. That must change.

7. Do you wear fake eyelashes?

No. Putting glue near my eyes sounds like a mad idea to me right now. But never say never.

8. Is there any kind of makeup you can’t leave the house without?

Foundation. Although I’m about to turn 30, my skin is still acting up – probably as a consequence of my not-so-stellar routine.

9. What is your most cherished beauty product?

It would have to be my curling iron. It gives me the happy hair when I am feeling like it.

10. How often do you shop for makeup? Do you like to pick up an item here and there or get lots of goodies at once?

When I run out of at least two items (or I’m scraping the bottom), I usually go and repurchase them. Yes, the same brand and same product, if possible. I’m just awful that way.

11. Do you have a “beauty budget” or you spend freely?

Considering the limited amount of things I buy, I don’t even need a beauty budget. I could buy pretty much anything and my wallet wouldn’t suffer terribly. But I am setting a budget for my USA make-up haul, which is quite substantial in my opinion. In a couple of weeks, when the lists are finalized, I will post them here. Any feedback on the lists will be highly appreciated. And than we can compare the wishlists to the actual purchases after I return. View Post

TMI Tag

Your low maintenance beauty has fallen ill, so it was the nose-blowing and tea-making routine for me, rather than a make-up one. But, I have mustered enough energy to write a quick blog today. Since I haven’t made ANY progress, I though it would be fun to do a random TMI tag, followed by a Beauty Questions tag. I think that especially the latter one will be quite fun to read in a year or so, provided that I actually will follow up and do something spectacular regarding my looks.

So I searched for a TMI tag and came up with a 50 questions one that seems to be quite popular on Youtube at the moment. Without further ado, here are the questions and the answers.

1. What are you wearing?

Right now, yoga pants from Nike and a Kings t-shirt. Yes, I’m a huge Kings fan, although I’m a girl and live thousands of miles from USA. Do you know that #11 Kopitar is Slovenian? Didn’t think so 🙂

2. Ever been in love?

I think I’ve been in love, yes. It’s what I would describe my current status as.

3. Ever had a terrible breakup?

Quite a few, so I wouldn’t really get into that. Fun fact – if your bf asks for money for his birthday and you break up months before, he might still call you on the day and ask for the money. I tried to pick up my jaw from the floor for weeks after that.

4. How tall are you?

168 cm or 5,5. Yes, I had to Google that one.

5. How much do you weight?

Too much. My weight is really bouncing up and down lately, but I consider myself to be overweight. FYI, in Slovenia, my size is M, and in USA I’m a XS. So… my enormousness is obviously very relative to the continent.

6. Any tattoos?

Nope. My body is a temple 😉

I would get a tattoo, if I would think of anything that I would want to carry around with me for the rest of my life. So far, that hasn’t happened yet.

7. Any piercings?

Do earrings count? I only have those, and I’ve only had them done when I was 18 years old. Pretty pathetic, I know.

8. OTP?

Mhhhm… I really had to think about this one. Maybe JFK and Jackie. Or, Jace and Clary. I won’t get into that one either.

9. Favorite show?

Right now, the Game of Thrones. I also LooVe the Big Bang Theory and Family guy.

10. Favorite bands?

I’m really not that into listening to music. I am around blabbing people all day and I enjoy my peace and quite. But if I could choose any band to go and hear, it would be something classic, like the Rolling Stones. From performers, I would have to say Madonna.

11. Something you miss?

Without sounding to shallow, because I really miss people I’ve lost in my life, what I also miss, is a Starbucks, Victoria’s Secret and Sephora in Slovenia. Those, I miss.

12. Favorite song?

This changes constantly. Right now, it’s Happy by Pharell Williams. That always gets me moving.

13. How old are you?

Just about to turn 30. So, a lot.

14. Zodiac sign?

Cancer. With all the positive and negative traits that come along with it.

15. Quality you look for in a partner?

I think that every person needs someone who they can trust. So being trustworthy would be number one. My husband can make me smile, so that’s an extra bonus right there. He’s also my best, best friend. View Post

How it all began

It’s not that I don’t care. Because I do.

I always made sure that my hair was clean, my nails were pretty (yes, nail polishes were always a must for me) and that my lips weren’t chapped. I wore foundation, some eye shadow and mascara. An occasional lipgloss, always in pink, because I thought that that was the only color that complimented my blue eyes, blonde hair and light complexion. This brings us to about 5 products.

I am and will always remain a sucker for shampoos and conditioners, because the highlighting leaves my hair somewhat dry. So I always stocked up on those. Also, I used a hairspray. Not counting simple elastic bands, we’re now at 8 products. Of course, I have a face cream, a hand cream and a body lotion. Some sunscreen, Aloe Vera, some perfumes. But I hardly think that counts. And if it does, we still haven’t reached the fairy tale dozen.

In the past, I had sometimes tried to experiment and bought products I didn’t quite know what to use for. I remember buying a liquid eyeliner about five years ago, but telling you that story is a whole new chapter. I bought a brow pencil (at least I think it was a brow pencil, but I am not so sure) to help my over-plucked eyebrows, but as it was the wrong shade I quickly dismissed that idea.

So, you probably get it by now. Not that I didn’t care, I just didn’t put any effort into it. I don’t think that I necessarily looked like a tomboy, but only now I see what I »coullda, shouldda, wouldda«. And it’s ON. Being precise and stubborn by nature, I am taking this on as a project. I will master all things beauty!

And share my insights, learnings, tips, tricks, reviews and stories with all of you as I go.
