Avon Slovenija was very kind and sent me a lovely package containing a lot of goodies a couple of weeks ago.
Inside the package, I found the Nutra Effects daily cream, Luck La Vie Perfume and two of their new summer colors of nail polish in the Avon Glow Nailwear Pro+ line. These two, I’ll save for a separate review, since they absolutely deserve a post of their own (hint, hint), but today, let’s talk skincare first.
Nutra Effects is a relatively new Avon line with active chia seed complex, which certainly counts as an innovative product in my book. The line contains no parabens and colorings. I am drooling over some other products as well, like the Argan infused hair mask or the cleansing foam. But that’s a whole other story.
Anyway, Avon Slovenia sent me the daily cream from the Hydration line intended for dry/normal skin. It promises 24 hours of hydration and I can certainly appreciate such claims in the summer. Extra bonus – this cream also boasts an SPF 15.
If your skin is mixed or on the oily side, you can alternatively go for the Balance line which helps you face stay matte despite the raging heat we’ve been having lately.
I must say I absolutely love this cream. You get 50 ml, which is a good amount, for only 5,50 € (in the catalog valid from 29/7 onward), but it feels like the most luxurious and expensive cream on the planet. I’ve switched out my Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing Gel for this cream and I must say that Nutra Effects performs better, even if I don’t take the price: quality ratio into account. It’s been a really hard week last week and has not improved a great deal by now. A lot of my co-workers and my family got ill and I’ve had to sort out a lot of additional things, while at the same time running around my clients and generally being busy as I always am.
As I already mentioned, November is my least favorite month of the entire year and it is really hard to be excited about anything when being down. But there are some things in my life that brought smile to my face in the previous month and I would like to share them with you.
I know I’ve talked about these already and they are also included in my giveaway. But it gives me real comfort to come home and light a candle that brings a touch of warmth to your life. I generally like all of the Christmas collection and I will be burning it well into January.
I also got this last week… a bit of bragging never hurt anyone, right? I must admit it feels good that it’s finally over.
Below are some of the presents I bought for “my” children in the Santa for a day project. I am a firm believer in giving back since I count myself very lucky to have all the things I need in my life. If you missed your opportunity to participate this year, follow them on FB and make sure you sign up next year.
What is this, you ask? Why, it’s a PILE of felt 🙂
I always like to do some DIY presents during the Christmas season for the people who appreciate them. I am looking forward to actually finding the time to do them, but for now, just looking at these wonderful colors puts a smile on my face.
ext, my all time favorite scent, which I supersized on this month. I know, you can’t see it clearly – it’s Chloe by Chloe. Very original, I know, but to me, this smells of warm kisses, fuzzy socks, orchids and the feeling of a roasted chestnut bag in your hands.
Meet my favorite purse. I’ve had this for several years but it’s quite… different, so I usually only wear it in the winter when I can easily match it with a black, grey or beige coat. Each year, I splurge on one bag from Marjeta Grošelj (or I receive it as a gift, depends) and I’ve never regretted a single € spent. I think that while her bags are unusual, they are timeless and worth the splurge.
Last but not least, the one thing that made me smile is the Rafflecopter counter climbing up and up and up. I’m soo excited to announce the winners on Thursday! Make sure to enter if you haven’t yet!
This post could have also been addressed – I flew, I bought, I conquered. And I am sorry that I’ve been gone this long, but workload before holidays was insane and I barely had the chance to pull it off before we flew to US.
Obviously, shopping wasn’t the sole purpose of the trip, but in the end me and my hubby bought way more stuff than we even thought possible. We flew to San Francisco with 28 lb of luggage between us (2 suitcases) and flew back with 148 lb + all the stuff that we packed in our carry-on bags. So yes, quite insane.
But the thing here is that you guys that live in the States probably have no idea how lucky you all are. The clothes from the brands we like (Banana Republic, GAP, Levi’s, VS, Abercrombie etc.) were so inexpensive that we bought enough clothes to last us at least a year. How lucky you are that you probably all live across the street from Bath & Bodyworks. I spent 2 hours in there and my only though now when I’m trying all the products out is that I should have bought another suitcase. And make-up…yes… but this is the story that we’ll get into a bit more in-depth.
I bought both drugstore and high-end make-up. Some I got because it was so ridiculously cheap compared to prices here in Slovenia (I will try to compare prices where I can). And some I bought because I wanted to try all the new, pretty, shiny brands that were attacking me from every corner. I will try to go over the purchases in the same order I would use them. So without further ado, here is THE haul.
FACE
I must say, that I am a bit skeptical about all these gadgets that supposedly make your face feel like newborns. So I didn’t go for the Clairsonic but instead opted for the less expensive version – the Olay Pro X. So far I must admit that I’m very impressed so this might just be a step towards actually getting the Clairsonic. But I can tell that I’m breaking out less and that’s what’s most important.
ProX also came with a pore scrub of some kind which I haven’t tried out yet. I also purchased a Neutrogena purifying pore scrub. First impression – not too crazy about it. It seems kind of difficult to wash off. But it’s early days still.
ProX cost about $30 , I’m not sure if you can get it in Slovenia. I did try to look for the Neutrogena scrub and couldn’t find it in my local drugstore.
Next up was Clinique dramatically different moisturizing gel. This was a Sephora purchase and since it was so inexpensive, I actually bought 3 instead of just 1.
Just to give you an idea – this puppy cost $26 in Sephora. In Slovenia, I would have paid $64 for the same amount. So basically, I could say that I almost bough 3 for the price of one.
BTW, I don’t know why the prices of Clinique in Slovenia are so sky high. I must look into that. View Post
