Empties #8 – skin care & make-up

empties skincare

As mentioned on Monday, I split these empties into two parts so they are more manageable. You can read the first part about hair care and body care *here*, if you’re interested. Today, let’s start with the cleansers. I used up a whole bunch of cleansers. I can’t believe that used up the Biobaza 3in1 make-up removal and hydration cream – more than half a liter! It did a good job at removing my make-up. I would not purchase it again, because I prefer to try more different products (it took me more than 6 months to use this up!), but it’s really good value for money! I didn’t like the Neutrogena Hydro boost micellar water. It really burned my eyes and wasn’t all that successful at removing make-up. I talked about the Ole Henriksen African red tea foaming cleanser before *here* – it’s rich in antioxidants, smells amazing and leaves me feeling rejuvenated. A product I’d definitely repurchase. Last but not least, I tried the Real Chemistry Luminous 3 minute peel. Normally, I would try it on my face, but I tried it on my hand and it started peeling so terribly that I didn’t dare put it on my face. I don’t think I’d get this because it would scare me to death.

New Bits and Bobs from July – review

It’s that time of the month again. The day of verdict when I can tell you what I thought about the new products I bought or received in the month of July.

I must say that I really like the Biobaza make-up remover. I only need a single pump to remove the non waterproof make-up and another pump for the face. I also think this bottle will last me about a year, so the value is amazing.

The Verde Vera hand cream is nothing special, to be honest. It’s not very nourishing, it doesn’t smell that great – basically, it’s the kind of product you forget you own all the time.

I have used the Avon Sun Light Spray during the vacation, but as my hair is currently going through some kind of hormonal meltdown, I can hardly be an honest judge of it. I can say that it smells wonderfully, though.

I promised myself I would save this Victoria’s Secret Exotic Fragrance Lotion until next summer, but I cracked under pressure. It’s another great product, smells great, absorbs quickly and leaves my skin nice and soft. Not something I’d write home about, but a really good product nonetheless.

The same can be said for the Bath&Bodyworks PocketBac sanitizers. They are now evenly distributed throughout my purses and I’m set for at least one year. I am partial to the Cool Coconut colada, simply because… coconut!

Avon Nailwear Pro+ in Minty is one of my favorite nail polishes of all times – and I feel quite certain in saying that. It’s well pigmented, doesn’t chip very quickly and I’m absolutely in love with the shade. I can’t say the same for the Deborah Gel Effect polish which unfortunately doesn’t agree with my skin tone. I am also on the fence about the Kiss Vita base coat since it doesn’t seem to a) make my nails any stronger or b) prolong the lifespan of my manicure. I’ll have to find something better – if you have a good suggestion for a base coat, please let me know in the comments!

Now for make-up. First, there is the famous Benefit Cheekathon palette – you can read the review *here*.

I also wrote individual reviews about the Nabla bronzer in Cameo (*click here* to read it – it’s a great bronzer!), the Cover FX Custom Cover Drops (the review can be found *here* – it’s one of my all time favorite products) and the Golden Rose Longstay Liquid lipstick (the review is *here* – I wasn’t a fan). I also had a go at my Laura Mercier translucent powder which is quite OK, but the real test will come in the winter when the foundation and concealer get heavier and are more likely to crease. The Beautyblender is still waiting to be used, but I reviewed that so many times already that I probably won’t do it again. Last but not least is the Nabla lip liner which I totally missed the color – it’s much lighter than any of my nude lipsticks so I’m still thinking of ways to use it.

And that concludes the short reviews of the products I bought or received last month. If you want more information about any of the products, let me know in the comments below.

Until next time, stay beautiful!

New bits and bobs from June – review

It’s that time of the month again – time to look back at the products I bought in June (*click* for the original post) and have been trying out for the past couple of weeks. I haven’t had a chance to use all of them, but if I have an opinion, you’ll find it below. As always, it’s a long one – but by now you probably don’t even need that warning, right? 🙂

I really like the Aussie Festival Fresh Dry Shampoo – you can read my review and comparison with Batiste dry shampoo *here*. I also tried and loved the Avon Senses Joyful tropics shower gel – the scent (papaya and peach) is a bit sweeter than I normally like, but this one somehow agreed with me. I’m still waiting to try the Artdeco Senses Asian Spa shower gel, as well as both Afrodita goodies. I did however give a go to the Biobaza deodorant and so far, I’m not too impressed. These sunny, hot and humid days are a real make-or-break test for any deodorant though, so I’ll hold off on the final verdict.

The Avon Naturals Face Mist has been a staple in my bag for the past few weeks. I like that it has almost no effect on my face makeup (not that I’m wearing that much in this heat). I also had a good go with the Avon Sun Face Cream – it didn’t break me out and it provided a good base for my foundation, so I’m liking it a lot. I’m yet to try the Artdeco face spray and the Bourjois face scrub (typical beauty blogger 1st world problems: so many product, only one face!). I have been trying sheets masks out like crazy, though, and I really see the appeal. I will say that the Balea Aqua Mask is a good one and worth the 1€ it will set you back – if nothing else, you get to try the concept, which is a bit gimmicky, but very appealing to me personally. For an in-depth review, you’ll have to wait until the following Sunday when I’ll be doing a special post about sheet masks in general. View Post

New Bits And Bobs for June 2016

I must admit that it didn’t exactly feel like I was shopping that much or received that many goodies as in the previous months. But when I hauled everything to the seaside and started taking photos, I realized that I might have a lot going on here. I already spoke briefly about some new products you’ll see below, but generally, this is the overview of everything I bought or received this month.

Also, be prepared for a long one next month as well – June is my b-day month and I always go a little overboard when ordering new things, but most of them are yet to arrive 🙂

Starting off with face, body and hair, I bought the Biobaza natural deodorant (Rosewood and Geranium). I’m only starting to discover this brand so I’m excited to try it out, especially with the bad luck I’ve been having with deodorants lately.

I received the Afrodita Body Scrub and Body Mousse as a b-day gift from a friend. I’ve had quite a bad experience with a certain Afrodita product in the past weeks, but hopefully we’ll get along better with these two.

I bought the Aussie Festival Fresh dry shampoo here in Croatia while on vacation. I haven’t seen this particular one yet in Slovenia but I’ve tried Aussie dry shampoo before and enjoyed it. View Post
