Beautiful Bloggers Meetup

I know that it’s Saturday and I don’t normally post on Saturdays, but the thing is Beautiful Bloggers Meetup (#bbmulj on Instagram if you want to check it out) under the motto Be yourself. Be an unicorn got me too excited to keep things to myself. And I bet you’re curious about what was happening, amirite?

Anyway, I need a few more days to really get my mind in working order so I can summarize everything that happened and my thoughts on the whole conference (which will be post #2, I suppose) and I still need to go through all the goodies that I got (obviously, post #3), so in the mean time, here are some photos to keep you entertained.

My breakfast – a fab cake pop!
Le Couvent des Minimes body sprays were available in the hall and in the toilets – for warmth, happiness or energy after the lunch, depending on whatever each girl needed on that particular day.
I am absolutely in love with the wonderful lights from Smile Concept Store. These and the roses by Box Of love really made the atmosphere in Hotel Lev magical – perfect for unicorns!
I love when people pay attention to the little details – my morning coffee came with a cute bow!
This is just a glimpse at everything that could be seen at the Avon stand – there were so many product my head was spinning!
sOliver stand showcasing their new perfumes (for him and for her) was absolutely gorgeous with all the flowers, bows and pastel colors
A good smoothie kept my stomach from being louder then the speakers 🙂

DM stand with Trend it up products was the only stand being presented by a man. Well done, DM!
Melvita stand was out of this world simply because it took me to another place and time – in all that crowd, I got complete attention and felt like I was the only person in the world while they were talking to me. I <3 it!

That’s it for now, I’m afraid. But remember – there is more to come 🙂

Until next time, stay beautiful!

Delivery services in Slovenia RANT!

As a beauty blogger, I’m a regular customer in most drugstores around my home town, but other than that, I also shop online and get sent the occasional package once in a while. When I was ordering the packages to work, I had no trouble at all about 99 % of the time. The DPD delivery driver even knew that even if my home address was on the box, he would most likely find me at the office and simply delivered it there. But since on maternity leave, I’ve had my share of trouble with delivery services and so have my fellow bloggers. If you are reading this, you most likely shop online as well, so if you are curious as to what has been happening and how we are dealing with it, read below!

1. POOR COMMUNICATION

Every time your order a package online, you will be asked for your number so that the delivery company can contact you regarding the delivery of your particular package. For instance, GLS says they will send an e-mail the day before, and on the day of delivery you will be notified about the hour of delivery by text message. I often don’t get the e-mail or the text message at all – the delivery guy just appears at my door or I get the “delivery failed” text as the first message from them! The alternative is that they keep spamming you with up to 5 texts per single delivery.

Unfortunately, this is something that cannot be avoided either way, but you should definitely complain about it to the service provider! If they promise something, it should be done properly!

Solution: you are entitled to a repeat delivery on the day you choose! Just call the number of the delivery service or go to their tracking page and request the package to be delivered again.

2. LEAVING YOUR PACKAGE WITH YOUR NEIGHBOR/ON YOUR DOORSTEP/AT A RANDOM LOCATION/IN A PACKAGE MACHINE

This is something that both DPD and GLS excel at. I get shivers just thinking about the horror stories I’ve heard from my fellow bloggers. Let’s see some best examples:

leaving the package in the package machine all the way across town (not in the nearest one to your homeleaving the package with a random neighbor and not notifying you – in this case, it’s entirely up to the neighbor if you’ll ever see your package at all!
leaving the package on a random location that doesn’t even match your address (a fellow blogger got her package from a friendly train conductor because the DPD delivery driver just left it at the train station)
leaving in on your doorstep for anyone to take!

Solution N.1: paying for the package contents with the delivery. This way, the delivery man will have to track you down in order to get the money. Also, if you don’t want to travel across town for your package, request a repeat delivery as described above!

Solution N.2: if you get the text message that your package was delivered and you have no idea where it is, just notify the company that you have not signed for the package (which you need to every time) and that as far as you are concerned, the delivery was not made. It’s their problem, not yours!

Solution N.3: even if you find your package on your doorstep, do the same thing as in N.2. Remember, if you don’t sign the tablet/paper, the delivery was not made/confirmed. Since the delivery services are becoming sloppier even as their prices grow higher and higher, they obviously need a lesson in good manners. You are paying for a fast and secure delivery and you should get what you pay for!

3. LYING TO THE MANAGEMENT

As far as I can tell, the delivery guys will do anything to get out of trouble and some of them probably have Pinocchio worth noses! Let’s see some more examples:

telling the manager that the delivery was requested on a later day (when the customer never even spoke with the delivery man),
telling the manager that the customer allowed him to leave a package at another location (again, never spoke to them),
telling me that the package was supposed to be delivered on this day and not the day before (while I have a text message clearly stating that I will get the package the day before) etc.

Of course, if you make arrangements with the delivery guy in advance (for example you ask him to leave it somewhere for you), then be fair and respect that they’re basically breaking the rules to accommodate you. But if they are lying to you or their managers, they should not get away with it – see solution N.3 above.

Solution: you should always ask the management to check the calls made from the phone of the delivery guy. If they called you, the call would be recorded and wouldn’t last for more than at least 30 seconds. If no such call can be found, it’s obvious who is telling the truth…

So, to recap: you are paying good money for the package to be delivered to you promptly and safely. You should get what you pay for and if you >don’t, you should definitely make a complaint. If we keep quiet about our dissatisfaction with the services, nothing will change – if anything, the delivery man will become even more cheeky. When I do my job, I am not allowed to half-ass it, so why should they get away with it?

But if you are the lucky one and get your packages delivered as they should be, count your blessings and be nice to the delivery man – their jobs are definitely not easy and those who do it well should be treated with respect.

Until next time, stay beautiful!

My top Instagram photos in 2016 (so far)

I love Instagram. It’s like having a small window in lives of so many people. I know we only share the pretty moments with each other but that’s what life should be all about, right?

I went through my photos and found the five that you liked the most in 2016 so far.

#5: Sheet masks I’ve been trying out for the past few weeks – read the entire post *here*

#4: Shade&Light Contour Palette by Kat Von D review – you can find my thoughts about it *here*

In case you can’t tell – this is a plastic orchid so no plants were injured in making of this photo 🙂

#3: New bits and bobs for May – click *here* to read the lot. But make sure you have the time 🙂

#2: My make-up basket for July – read about it *here*

#1: New bits and bobs for June – you can find the whole thing *here*. Again, it’s a long post 🙂

I will say that my absolute favorite photo is not among these with the most likes, but no matter, I can look at it anytime I want for my own pleasure 🙂

Until next time, stay beautiful!

My love affair with the summer

I really, really love two months in a year. December, since it means spending time with family, joyful experiences and good food, and May, because it brings the beginning of the summer. This year, I had to wait a bit longer for that, but now summer is really here and I couldn’t be happier.

Here are ten things that make me happy in the summer, in no particular order.

~ Long days. I am miserable during the months when I get to the office in half-darkness and leave when it’s pitch dark. I feel like a vampire and it drains all my energy. I love it when the days get longer and I can enjoy the sun for hours and hours after I get home from work.

~ The taste of great ice cream. I am super picky when it comes to ice cream and I often ask for a tiny sample before ordering my two scoops. I would say that about 8 times out of 10, it doesn’t cut it. I am quite partial to Zvezda and Lolita ice creams in Ljubljana but won’t say no to Carte D’Or, Haagen Dazs and Ben&Jerry.

~ My birthday. I am a summer baby and I always get the day off since I celebrate on the day that Slovenia won its independence. Special bonus: I can celebrate the day before with my friends and nobody has to go to work with a hangover 🙂

~ Wide selection of fruit for pennies. Tangerines, watermelon, strawberries and cherries. I can live off fruit for most days in the summer. I had to make some cutbacks this year because I have to think about baby M as well, but I still manage to get my fair share of the tasty fresh goodness.

~ Beach hair. Gone are the days of hair straightners and blowouts. Nine times out of ten, I will let my hair air dry which produces various kinds of curls. I just put in a bit of mousse to give them some texture and I’m good to go.

~ Good vibes. Have you notices how everybody gets a little less cranky and a bit more adventurous in the summer? It takes one to know one, so I see it all around me.

~ Summer baby clothes. This is a new obsession, obviously, but I don’t think the little tops and cute shorts could get any cuter. Baby M has a wardrobe that is fit for Nice or Cannes. And I just Can’t. Stop. Spending. Thank goodness he’s growing so fast 😉

~ A quick shower after getting out of the sea. I love swimming but hate the feeling of being salty afterwards. The combination of a good water workout and a brisk shower leaves me feeling awesome.

~ Natural make-up and playing with the colors. Everything goes in the summer, right? With a bit of strobing I can go for a natural, healthy looking skin or I can pull out a colorful palette and play around with it.

~ Creating memories. As far back as I can remember, most of the best moments of my life have been tied to summer. So I am writing this from the seaside, enjoying special moments that will become tomorrow’s precious memories.

I would love it if you share what’s special for you in the summer time. <3

Until next time, stay beautiful.

My view on blogging

If you’ve been reading my blog for a while for a while, you know I have a full time job. I wouldn’t even call it a full time job, more of a 1+1 job, since it’s not unusual for me to reach 250+ hours per month. I also have different hobbies, a house, hubby and a princess kitty to take care of and quite recently, I added a baby to the mix. So it’s not like my life was boring before I started blogging.

When I wrote the first post, I seriously doubted anyone will ever read anything I wrote. I didn’t know how to take photos (I mean, they are still not excellent, but looking back I will say that I’ve come a long way in the past two years), I didn’t know how to tag, how to address people, what information to include and so on.

Two years later, I don’t really care about blogging rules that much I like my photos as they are and I’m not willing to invest more money into new gadgets and aids to make them any better. I don’t buy subscribers on any platform. I don’t really use GA. I know that people prefer shorter posts and more photos, but I don’t care about that – I will give you long, like super long posts most of the time. I love writing so that’s the way I roll – if you don’t like it, nobody is forcing you to read it. View Post
