Nail Art – Guest post by Anna – Mad About Red

Hello.

I am so glad to be a part of Blogvember here on Low maintenance beauty blog. For me it’s impossible to write 10 blog post per month and I have no idea how you can manage and write everyday for one month. So I was super excited when Maša asked me if I would be a part of her Blogvember.

I could write about any thing, but I decided to go with something really close to me – manicure. The magic December is almost here and I decided to do a bit more neutral but still sparkly manicure that every one can rock. Maybe on Christmas or New years eve or any day in December. It’s also super easy.

I started with one coat of base coat, two coats of Golden Rose gorgeous polish in 101 and for some sparkles I add Avon magic effect in Pearl. You can add sparkly polish where ever you want and as much as you want, but I choose to add it only on one side of each nail. I helped with scotch tape, for straight line.

Super easy right? I hope I inspire you for some sparkles.

Have a sparkly weekend!

Avon Glow Nailwear Pro+ : Flaming Orange and Plush Berry

A couple of days ago, I already posted a review of the Nutra Effects daily moisturizer and Luck La Vie Perfume that I was kindly sent by Avon Slovenija.

As I already mentioned in that post, I want to do a separate review of their new summer shades from the Nailwear Pro+ line – Flaming Orange and Plush Berry.

I must admit I’m not crazy about the brown boxes (it’s subjective, of course, but I really don’t like brown color in general). It’s not a packaging I would be attracted to in the store.

I do like the bottles with the shimmery brown caps, though. They are square and a bit higher, which means they fit in nicely into my storage and don’t take up any extra space. View Post

Last e.l.f. haul for a while…

If you follow me on Instagram (you don’t? Go now – it’s @low_maintenance_beauty) you might have noticed my posts about the shutdown of e.l.f. (Eyes Lips Face) UK online store. Apparently, it will make a comeback in a couple of months, but I still stocked up on some things I like and afforded a bit more, since everything was on massive sale.

By the way, the sale is still going on – there’s not a lot of stuff left but you can still check it out if something catches your eye.

Anyway, this is what I got.

Yes – those are three identical Mineral Eyeshadow Primers back in the corner. These primers are absolutely best value for money (with the exception of Wet’n’Wild Fergie primer which I can’t find anywhere in Europe). They have a soft yellow tint to them which is just enough to cover the veins and spots on the eyelids even if you’re not wearing any eyeshadow. So I stocked up.

e.l.f. Smudge Pot – Hit the town
Keeping with the eye theme, I got another one of the Smudge pots in color Hit the town. I bought one of these (Gotta glow – a nice light gold shade) a few months back and I like to use it as an accent for the middle of my eyelid when going for a bolder look. Since they are wet (kind of similar to Maybelline Color Tattoo’s, but in reality more appropriate for base), they have a bit more staying power than a normal eyeshadow. Hit the town is a blue-gray shadow that looks absolutely beautiful and I will definitely use it as a base for creating a smokey eye. View Post

My simple manicure routine

I don’t have a lot of spare time, so I tend to really simplify anything that I can – including my manicure routine. It’s simple, straightforward and works for me. First, I prepare everything I’ll need.

Basically, I put together all the necessary tools – nail files, cuticle nippers, cuticle pusher, small scissors and the likes.

Then, I go through my nail polishes and gather up everything I think I’ll use – sometimes I give myself more than one option (like here, where I debated between matte finish and glossy finish).

Next up, it’s time to get that old nail polish off. I just bought this Delia polish remover which smells like strawberries and doesn’t contain any acetone. I kind of prefer it this way, since I find that acetone really dries up my nails.

I start by working on my cuticles. If I do this every time I change my nail polish they tend to stay nice, but I sometimes skip this step if I’m in a hurry and then I really need to spare an extra minute on them the next time. First, apply a bit of oil and let it sit for a minute or two.

Then, I push the cuticle back with the soft side of the cuticle pusher so I’m not scratching the nail too hard. View Post

Revlon Parfumerie nail enamel – Lime Basil review

Hello beauties. I hope you are enjoying the first proper days of sunshine and warmth – I actually had my first coffee outside in 2015 yesterday and I loved every minute of it.

Anyway, I though I would do a review of a polish I found while browsing in Müller (about 7€) the other day – the Revlon Parfumerie nail enamel in the color Lime Basil.

I was once told that a person should learn a new fact every day. So my fact of today is the difference between nail lacquer and nail enamel. Nail lacquer supposedly dries from the inside and leaves a dull finish, while the nail enamel dries from the outside and then hardens. Also, the latter is supposed to last longer on the nails.

Anyway, back to the actual polish. I didn’t own a shade like this before and I was really attracted by it, but the bottle itself, the name and the promise of a perfume combined with nails was the real selling point for me.

Now the thing is, when seeing the name, I thought that the nail polish will smell really nice on its own. Nope. It is supposed to develop the fragrance when you put it on your nails! It would be nice if that was written somewhere on the bottle. I really didn’t smell anything, though.

The perfume aspect aside, it’s a really, really nice color, which reminds me of Ninja turtles and peppermint. I am not really a big fan of the brush since it is quite thin and makes application a bit more difficult, but it is still manageable.

This is the result with two coats without a top coat.

What I like about it is that it really has that silky, smooth, shiny texture on top. But on the topic of a nail enamel lasting longer… well, this is my nails about 48 hours after I applied it (literally 5 minutes ago).

There is some chipping going on, but I’m really quite impressed anyway because the last 2 days of my life have been filled with manual labor, carrying things around etc.

If you want to get your hands on one of these, I suggest you hurry – there were only a couple of colors left to choose from and it didn’t really look like Müller was going to stock up.

Have a great weekend and – you know – stay beautiful until next time!
