Empties #8 – skin care & make-up

empties skincare

As mentioned on Monday, I split these empties into two parts so they are more manageable. You can read the first part about hair care and body care *here*, if you’re interested. Today, let’s start with the cleansers. I used up a whole bunch of cleansers. I can’t believe that used up the Biobaza 3in1 make-up removal and hydration cream – more than half a liter! It did a good job at removing my make-up. I would not purchase it again, because I prefer to try more different products (it took me more than 6 months to use this up!), but it’s really good value for money! I didn’t like the Neutrogena Hydro boost micellar water. It really burned my eyes and wasn’t all that successful at removing make-up. I talked about the Ole Henriksen African red tea foaming cleanser before *here* – it’s rich in antioxidants, smells amazing and leaves me feeling rejuvenated. A product I’d definitely repurchase. Last but not least, I tried the Real Chemistry Luminous 3 minute peel. Normally, I would try it on my face, but I tried it on my hand and it started peeling so terribly that I didn’t dare put it on my face. I don’t think I’d get this because it would scare me to death.

Spring favorites ***** Spomladanski naj izdelki

Even though the weather has been acting up, calendar says it’s spring so the time is ripe for me to show you the products I’ve been enjoying lately. Some have been in my collection for quite a while and some are relatively new. Naturally I’m constantly trying out new products so you can expect a lot of reviews in the following weeks, as well as an exciting giveaway.

My skin has been enjoying L’Occitane concentrate with almond milk which I’m about to run out of. That’s not really an issue though because in the beginning of May, L’Occitane is launching a new almond concentrate with caffeine and almond proteines which promises a firmer skin – just in time for the summer. I think this is probably the fifth (or so) pot of concentrate I’ve used so far so I’ll definitely continue to repurchase it. For keeping my hair damage-free and protected from heat, I’ve been using the Charles Worthington Heat Defence Spray that is applied from the scalp to the roots of my hair before blow-dry. I wash my hair every other day and color it so it’s important to give them quality protection. After a month of use, I’ve really noticed a positive difference in the shine of my hair and less split ends and breaks.

Look Fantastic Beauty Box – August 2015

After some months, I finally used up most of the products from my previous Look Fantastic boxes and decided it was time to see what they have up their sleeve this time.

Look Fantastic Beauty Box is a subscription service box (in which case you save a bit of money), but it can also be bought individually for 20,85 €. Generally, one or two out of 5 products in the box already bring the worth to the 21 € mark, but that doesn’t really mean anything if you don’t like the products, now does it? This is what I found inside the August box.

I must say that I really like the pick, since I haven’t used any of these brands except for Rimmel before. I think that this is a real advantage of subscription boxes as well – being able to use samples or deluxe samples (and sometimes even full size products) of brands I would otherwise probably never reach for or even think about, really.

I admit that I’ve already tried both of these products. The left one is Alterna Caviar CC cream – 10 in 1 complete correction leave-in hair conditioner (full size available here for 34,68 €) and the right one is the Beauty Works 10 in 1 Miracle spray (full size available here for 16,66 €), which is also a leave-in conditioner. One thing I have definitely noticed after using either one of these products is that my hair is a bit heavier and shiny – I feel like I’ve just come out of my hair salon. Personally, I’m leaning against the Alterna CC cream, since the smell is not as potent as with Beauty Works spray and I can measure out the product I need more exactly out of the squeeze tube.

I must admit that I’ve never been too curious about the Eve Lombrand, particularly because I’ve seen the prices before and well, let’s just say that they’re a bit out of my range. So I am very excited about this 30 ml sample and the included muslin cloth to see what the hype is about.

The full size is available here for a whooping 76,45 €.

I am really looking forward to trying out different ways of using the Bellapierre shimmer powder in Snowflake. View Post

Empty products!

Once again, I dug out my beauty trash. I tried to keep your advice in mind and do this post a bit earlier this time so the post doesn’t stretch into infinity. I don’t think I did very well, though.

Let’s start small. I’ve gotten or purchased quite a lot of samples and for once, I managed to use some as well.

I love Paula’s Choice Skin Perfecting exfoliator. It was my first time trying something with BHA gel and I’m really tempted to get a full size of this. It made my skin bright, I really had a feeling that it was clean and soft. I can’t say the same for the Delarom Infinite White serum – I noticed no difference to my skin after using a couple of these samples (which I got in the Dashbox).

I will get my behind whooped by beauty bloggers for saying this, but I was really, really unimpressed with the Aussie 3 Minute Miracle Reconstructor. My hair didn’t feel any different or feel any different after I used it. I might try some other Aussie products in the future, but I will not be purchasing this any time soon.

Sticking with the hair theme, I used up my Syoss Anti-Grease Dry Shampoo. This was an OK product – it lasted me quite long, but I only used it on 3rd day hair which doesn’t happen very often to me to be honest. The smell is nice and it does suck some of the grease out. Hint: I usually spray this into my hair first thing in the morning and let it do its magic for a good 10 minutes before brushing out. I would repurchase this, but I might also go for Batiste again, simply because I prefer the smell. View Post

Too many open mascaras…

After a long night of dreaming about Nepal (and a quite dashing young gentleman (see my Instagram for more details on that one) – and not really getting much sleep, doing a post that requires close-up photos of my eyes probably isn’t the best idea, but still, here it goes. As you may already know, I have quite a hoarding problem when it comes to mascaras and I’ve gone through my pile to see what I need to talk about and discard and what I can keep using for a few more months.

This is what I came up with – six mascaras in total. Don’t judge.

Needless to say, not all of them are great, so let’s do it the same way we did the other time – from worst to best. By the way, all photos of lashes are one coat without any curling.

I generally adore Maybelline mascaras, but the Great Lash mascara did absolutely nothing for me at all.

Maybelline Great Lash
It won several Allure’s “best of” titles and I was so sure that this really was the holy grail mascara I picked it up the second I saw it. Well, I wish that I would have checked the wand before I did that, because now that I know what to look for, it seems obvious that the bristles are set so far apart that they will each hug a bunch of lashes at the same time and just create these thick spidery lashes.

Now, some of you may enjoy this effect, but I really hate it. It’s also a very wet mascara which transfers like crazy on my eyelids and under my waterline. I would not recommend it, not at all. View Post
