Autumn favorites **** Jesenski favoriti

It’s been quite a while since I last wrote a post about my favorite products. I’ll admit that some months, there simply aren’t any that I would want to write about and I don’t want the products to repeat themselves. But I’ve had quite a few favorites this fall and it’s only right that I say a few words about them.

Let me start with Melvita rose hip oil. I got to choose this oil at the Beautiful Bloggers conference (*click* to read more about that) and I’ve been using it for well over a month now. At night, I apply a couple of drops to a clean face and follow up with my night moisturizer. I must say that the effect has been amazing – the skin feel tighter, but even more importantly it feels softer and well nourished. Rose Hip oil is meant for the first lines, but Melvita offers a whole range of oils so you can surely find the one that will suit you the best.

View Post

Trend It Up products & quick reviews

If you just so happened to be in a coma for the past month, you probably missed it. If not, then you most likely know that DM brought their Trend It Up line into stores across Slovenia. I picked up a couple of products and have been trying them for the past month – now, I’m ready to tell you more about them!

Če si slučajno zadnji mesec preživela pod skalo, potem si verjetno zamudila… Če pa ne, potem najverjetneje veš, da je DM v svoje trgovine po Sloveniji pripeljal Trend It Up linijo.

First, let me start of by saying that each and every one of the products I’ve tried is great value for money. Trend It Up is not an expensive line and you’ll be hard pressed to find anything over 10 € (unlike it’s sister brand BeYu which I’ll talk about next week). The selection is amazing and as far as I can tell, the products are really flying off the shelves.

Trend It Up ni draga znamka in težko boš našla kakšen izdelek nad 10 € (kar pa ni res za sestrsko znamko BeYu, o kateri bom govorila naslednji teden). Izbira je res čudovita in kolikor sem videla sama, so izdelki kar leteli s polic.

Let’s talk nail polish. I love the square bottles which are easy to store and the brush is short and wide, covering my nail in one single stroke. I wanted to show you a live swatch but my nails are not camera – worthy right now, so we’re left with the plastic nail 🙂 The shade 270 reminds me of a nice Cabarnet with a bit of pink undertones. The staying power is good, it lasted three days on my nails without top coat and five with a top coat.

View Post

BEAUTIFUL PINK OCTOBER (Slovenian beauty bloggers collaboration)

Why pink, you might ask? Sure, there is nothing pink about it if you look at the nature – all golds and greens and yellows everywhere you look. But the color pink is tied to the month of October in a different way.

In the month of October, me and my fellow Slovenian beauty bloggers want to remind every girl, mother, woman, sister out there that none of us are safe from the danger of breast cancer that is commonly connected to the pink bow, like the one in the photo below.

I want to remind you that self-checking is important. Early detection is key to successful treatments! Ideally, you would check your breasts every month, about 7-10 days into your monthly cycle. On this webpage (click!) you can read more about how to check yourself and can also download an app that will remind you to check your breasts and show you exactly how you do it.

Remember that not every change in the breasts means malignant cancer, so if you feel something, there is no reason to panic! Talk to your doctor and together you will choose the right way to proceed. I am knocking on wood, though, that none of us will ever have to go through that!

Be yourself, be different – with L’Occitane Arlésienne collection

I can’t believe that the Beautiful Bloggers meetup is really over for this year. I had an even better time this year, but truth be told, I need a day or two to process everything before I can summarize my thoughts into a nice, long post.

But I can talk for a moment about the theme of this years’ meetup: Be yourself … be an unicorn! Or, as someone put it even better: Be yourself. Unless you can be an unicorn – then always be an unicorn! I already spoke many times how I feel that it’s difficult to tell one beauty blog from another, since most of us write about similar products, shoot similar photos… there is no diversity.

And I plan to change that! I am making a promise to myself that I will make my blog different, unique and stand out from all others. I plan to keep that promise!

I was kind of motivated to write this post by L’Occitane. They are soon releasing a new Arlésienne collection and kindly gave us a sneak preview of the collection on Friday. The little package contained the Arlésienne Velvet Hand Cream and the Arlésienne delicious gloss, but more importantly, a challenge to be different. What was the challenge, you ask?

Well, I’m glad you asked. We all got a long, pink ribbon with the following instruction: “The decorative ribbon that Arlésienne woman (women from Arlese in the south of France) puts into her hair speaks a story about a bold woman, who is completely free. Each ribbon is unique and speaks its own language – the pattern on it is as unique as the woman who wears it in her hair.”

New Bits and Bobs from July – review

It’s that time of the month again. The day of verdict when I can tell you what I thought about the new products I bought or received in the month of July.

I must say that I really like the Biobaza make-up remover. I only need a single pump to remove the non waterproof make-up and another pump for the face. I also think this bottle will last me about a year, so the value is amazing.

The Verde Vera hand cream is nothing special, to be honest. It’s not very nourishing, it doesn’t smell that great – basically, it’s the kind of product you forget you own all the time.

I have used the Avon Sun Light Spray during the vacation, but as my hair is currently going through some kind of hormonal meltdown, I can hardly be an honest judge of it. I can say that it smells wonderfully, though.

I promised myself I would save this Victoria’s Secret Exotic Fragrance Lotion until next summer, but I cracked under pressure. It’s another great product, smells great, absorbs quickly and leaves my skin nice and soft. Not something I’d write home about, but a really good product nonetheless.

The same can be said for the Bath&Bodyworks PocketBac sanitizers. They are now evenly distributed throughout my purses and I’m set for at least one year. I am partial to the Cool Coconut colada, simply because… coconut!

Avon Nailwear Pro+ in Minty is one of my favorite nail polishes of all times – and I feel quite certain in saying that. It’s well pigmented, doesn’t chip very quickly and I’m absolutely in love with the shade. I can’t say the same for the Deborah Gel Effect polish which unfortunately doesn’t agree with my skin tone. I am also on the fence about the Kiss Vita base coat since it doesn’t seem to a) make my nails any stronger or b) prolong the lifespan of my manicure. I’ll have to find something better – if you have a good suggestion for a base coat, please let me know in the comments!

Now for make-up. First, there is the famous Benefit Cheekathon palette – you can read the review *here*.

I also wrote individual reviews about the Nabla bronzer in Cameo (*click here* to read it – it’s a great bronzer!), the Cover FX Custom Cover Drops (the review can be found *here* – it’s one of my all time favorite products) and the Golden Rose Longstay Liquid lipstick (the review is *here* – I wasn’t a fan). I also had a go at my Laura Mercier translucent powder which is quite OK, but the real test will come in the winter when the foundation and concealer get heavier and are more likely to crease. The Beautyblender is still waiting to be used, but I reviewed that so many times already that I probably won’t do it again. Last but not least is the Nabla lip liner which I totally missed the color – it’s much lighter than any of my nude lipsticks so I’m still thinking of ways to use it.

And that concludes the short reviews of the products I bought or received last month. If you want more information about any of the products, let me know in the comments below.

Until next time, stay beautiful!
